IT Generalist – Position Overview

Ferguson Construction is a self-performing, design-build General Contractor that has been in business for over 100 years. Ferguson specializes in heavy industrial and commercial work including university and medical projects.

Ferguson Construction is looking for an energetic and self-motivated IT Generalist to support the IT Administrator, employees and new hires. Much of what we’re hiring someone to do is like help desk support, although it is not a help desk position. This position will support employees as needed at their workstations and in regional offices. This is a very hands on position, and is not a sit and answer phone calls all day type of role. The position is based on-site in Sidney, Ohio. Some travel will be required to regional offices located in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio and east of Indianapolis, Indiana.

You will be expected to provide front-line support and triage issues. You will coordinate issue resolution across various aspects of the IT environment. Your scope will cover PC, PC applications, printer, and network connectivity.

Essential Duties

Set up new devices for new hires and assist new hires with initial start-up Answer employee questions as needed that come into the department via phone & in person Provide technical support to in-house users as first-level technical support staff Deploy and manage company cell phones Assist IT Administrator with special projects as needed Collect used equipment from employees who terminate from the company Travel to regional offices regularly to provide on-site support as needed Manage inventory of laptops, tablets, cell phones, peripheral items


Microsoft 365 experience is a plus Experience with Sage 300, especially writing crystal reports, is also a plus Prior experience providing customer service support to employees Associates IT degree preferred, but not required Help Desk certification is a plus Minimum 2 years experience in similar role
