A respected industry leader, community advocate, and former CEO of Ferguson Construction, Given dedicated nearly five decades to advancing construction, workforce development, and economic growth throughout Ohio and beyond. Following his passing on February 4, 2026, tributes to his leadership and lifelong commitment to people have continued across the region.
Most recently, the Given family established the Mick Given TOOLS Foundation Endowment with a transformational $250,000 gift to the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Ohio Valley TOOLS Foundation. Announced during the organization’s 2026 Excellence in Construction Gala, the permanent endowment was created to support workforce development initiatives and help inspire the next generation of skilled trades professionals. The fund reflects one of the causes that was closest to Given’s heart. Throughout his career, he championed opportunities for young people to explore careers in construction and dedicated significant time to workforce development efforts across the region. As a longtime advocate for merit shop construction and industry training programs, he believed deeply in creating pathways for future craft professionals and construction leaders.
The endowment is designed to provide ongoing support for recruitment, career exposure, apprenticeship, and workforce development programs throughout Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana. By creating a permanent source of funding, the Given family has ensured that Mick’s passion for developing people will continue to have a lasting impact for years to come.
