SIDNEY, Ohio, August 14, 2026 – Ferguson Construction announced today that it has become 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Effective June 30, 2026, the transition reflects the company’s commitment to preserving its culture, rewarding its employees, and ensuring that the next chapter of its 100-plus-year legacy is shaped by the people who have helped build it.
Founded in 1920 by World War I veteran Murray Ferguson, the company has grown from modest beginnings, just Murray, his tools, and a pickup truck, into a leading design-build construction firm with more than 350 teammates across four regional offices. Today, Ferguson is recognized for its self-performing workforce, commitment to quality, and ability to deliver complex projects on accelerated schedules. In 2025 alone, the company completed 618 projects throughout its regions.
For Ferguson Construction, employee ownership reflects a natural evolution of the company’s long-standing values. The ESOP creates an opportunity for employees to share directly in the company’s future success while preserving the culture, stability, and customer-focused approach that have defined Ferguson for generations.
“The decision was centered on what was best for Ferguson Construction and our people,” said Doug Fortkamp, President of Ferguson Construction. “Employee ownership gives us a strong foundation for continued growth while preserving what makes us special: our talented team, our commitment to clients, and our relentless pursuit of excellence. We believe the people who help build Ferguson every day should have the opportunity to share in its success.”
The move to employee ownership was carefully planned in recent years and represents Ferguson’s commitment to preserving its legacy while building for the future.
