A Bright Spot on a Rainy Day

The dreary weather of Monday, April 11th put a damper on the day causing our outing to become an inside event, but could not hinder the excitement of the festivities itself.  The Groundbreaking ceremony for the addition and renovation of Amos Memorial Library in Sidney, Ohio went on as scheduled with the majority of the ceremony being held in the lower level Community Room of the existing library.

Ceremony speakers included Suzanne Cline, the Executive Director of Shelby County Libraries; Julia Frantz, President of the Library Board of Trustees; Julie Ehemann, Shelby County Commissioner; and the Mayor of Sidney, Mark Barhorst. Each individual shared an intimate memory of the library and gave a personal explanation of why the addition to and renovation of the existing Amos Memorial Library was so important to the Shelby County communities.

The Amos Memorial Library has been a community staple since 1958. As with all libraries, it has been a vital part of the community.  It is a common ground for individuals from any background to come and gain access to any knowledge they need to succeed.  The addition and renovation will increase space for additional media as well as provide more room to accommodate different and larger community activities.

The expansion and renovation of the library has been a long time coming and would not have been possible without the immense community support that has been received. The improved library will expand opportunities and continue to take care of future generations to come.  Construction is expected to be completed April 2017.
