Ferguson Hosted a Private 100-Year Celebration

Ferguson Celebrates Company’s 100th Anniversary with Customers, Associates, and Friends

Ferguson Construction Company welcomed its customers, associates, and friends of the company to the corporate office in Sidney, Ohio, on September 10th to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary. Other guests included Mike Barhorst-Mayor of Sidney, Ohio LT. Governor Jon Husted, U.S. Congressmen Jim Jordan(Ohio), and Warren Davidson(Ohio), Ohio State Senator Matt Huffman, as well as Ferguson’s past owners and family members. Guests enjoyed self-guided tours through the office featuring Ferguson’s private art collection and a dedication ceremony.

The dedication ceremony included speeches from elected officials and Ferguson’s CEO, Martin (Mick) Given. Congressman Jim Jordan spoke about Ferguson’s dedication to excellence and shared his excitement for the company’s milestone. Mr. Jordan presented a signed proclamation to Ferguson honoring the company’s centennial. Congressman Warren Davidson continued with great praise and congratulated Ferguson on their 100th year anniversary during his remarks, stating how hard it is for businesses to not only survive but thrive for such a long period of time. Ohio LT. Governor Jon Husted spoke also during the ceremony about how Ferguson has provided jobs throughout the company’s history to the local community. The LT. Governor presented the company with a signed resolution on behalf of Ohio Governor DeWine and himself. State Senator Matt Huffman shared how jobs provide the financial freedom to live and work within the community. He credited Ferguson Construction for their efforts through the years to provide jobs. Mr. Huffman also presented a signed resolution honoring Ferguson’s 100th anniversary.

Ferguson’s CEO Martin (Mick) Given presented the newly built shelter house along with special commemoratory plaques to the City of Sidney and Mayor Mike Barhorst. The shelter house is adjacent to the Ferguson office. It was built last summer in partnership with the City of Sidney and Nucor Building Systems to be completed before Ferguson’s 100th year celebration. To conclude the dedication event Mr. Given and Mr. Douglas Fortkamp, current president of Ferguson, presented each one of Ferguson’s past presidents with a special paintings commemorating each presidents’ contribution to the growth of Ferguson Construction Company. Mr. Fortkamp then spoke about the company’s future and thanked customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and employees for their support and dedication. Closing remarks were given by Mr. Given thanking all in attendance for their support to the company to make 100 years possible.

Sidney’s Chamber of Commerce hosted its Business-After-Hours in partnership with Ferguson Construction’s 100 Year event. Those in attendance were also able to tour the office and enjoy refreshments after the presentations. All guests received a special gift from Ferguson Construction to commemorate the company’s anniversary.

This event is a part of Ferguson’s year-long company celebration. Other celebrations included an employee kick-off event at the company’s Christmas party back in December and a company-sponsored zoo trip for the employees and their families.

*Before the event, Ferguson met with area health officials to ensure safety measures were being taken before and during the event. All guests, employees, and event staff; were medically screened by health professionals before entering the event. Face coverings were encouraged. Ferguson’s goal was to host a safe and enjoyable event for those who attended.
