Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT) was founded in 1971 and has grown into one of the largest regional, non-profit theatre groups in the country. (According to IRT’s website) In 1980, IRT moved into the historic Publix Theatre in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The theatre was originally a movie house which included a bowling alley, a lunch counter, and a barbershop. Since then, IRT has completed several renovations to the theatre. Most recently in May, IRT contracted Ferguson Construction-Indiana to renovate the 3rd and 4th floor lobbies. The project entailed complete demolition and renovation of lobby/reception space, group and family restrooms, and a new lounge/bar area on the 4th floor.
