Technology in Construction

Just like everything else today, construction is becoming more and more influenced by technology. Here at Ferguson part of our mission is to make our customers experience as seamless and efficient as possible. Furthering that mission comes from the help of our Revit 3D BIM software. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the tool that gives our in-house architects and engineers the insight and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.

Revit 3D BIM models can be used from the very beginning of a complex project. This software allows our team to evaluate constructability and design intent before construction begins. A 3D model is created allowing us to quantify materials and reduce the number of errors in a drawing. This technology helps us increase our value engineering that ultimately increases the speed of a project and decreases the cost.

Revit coordination is especially crucial for subcontractor coordination of office and building services. For example: Revit allows us to sit down with all the subs involved and map out what ductwork, piping, and conduit could go through joists, and what would go underneath or around. Another great application is client visualization allowing many versions to be looked at so a customer can achieve exactly what they want. Utilizing technology is just one more way Ferguson Construction is exceeding customer expectations.
